Symbol of Mediterranean sun and heat, lemon originates in Asia and more precisely in India and China, where it was found at its natural state. In Western Countries lemon spread around the year 1000 thanks to the Arabs who brought it to Sicily.
The first description of lemon, introduced from India two centuries earlier, appeared on writings dating back to the XII century. In suitable weather conditions, lemon blooms and bears fruits twice a year. The spring blossoming produces the best fruits, whose harvest lasts all winter.
This fruit is medium sized and has an elliptic shape, its peel looks fine grained and it is light yellow coloured. Its flesh is of medium texture, very juicy and with high acidity degree.
It is usually available from November to May.
